Café Mademoiselle in the Old Town undergoes a revamp PRESS RELEASE Café Mademoiselle in the Old Town undergoes a revamp The passion and dedication of the Illy family have made the company the symbol of Made in Italy and the representative of ideal coffee in more than 140 countries worldwide. One of the best baristas in the world, Mr Darko Cuturic, who is a trainer at Illy Università del Caffè, visited the Café Mademoiselle yesterday, and spoke about coffee and how to make different coffee drinks. Mr Mihail Burõhh, Board Member and GM at Meriton Hotels Group OÜ, and Mr Rain Uusküla, CEO at Da Vinci Food, greeted the guests. Mr Peter Strukelj, Regional Export Manager at illycaffè spa, introduced the company’s history. Mr Cuturic showed how to make correct foam for coffee and what a proper espresso should be like. There were also some exciting cold coffee drinks (Macchiato Caldo, Frappè al caffè, Leggero fondente, Amore), which were made using traditional coffees and various other ingredients. Many interesting facts came out during the introductions, which were a surprise to many: for example, despite its strength, espresso actually contains less caffeine than any other coffee. Also, when cocoa powder is used with coffee, it should be sprinkled on the coffee before the foamed milk is added, as this is the way to get the best taste. All employees of the café took part in the coffee training, so you really should visit the Café Mademoiselle if you are looking for a good cup of coffee. The Café Mademoiselle is open every day from 12 pm to 11 am and it is located at Pikk 29. The Meriton Old Town Garden Hotel belongs to the Meriton Hotels Group. The hotel links two of the oldest streets in the Old Town – Lai and Pikk – and brings clients straight to the heart of the Old Town. The 50 rooms of the hotel are different in size and design, and they represent a great balance between historical authenticity and modern convenience.
