The Meriton Hotels hotel chain is established by Mr Alexander Kofkin. In Estonia Mr Kofkin started his hotel business in 1995 when he privatized Hotel Tallinn. The renovated and expanded hotel opened its doors in January 1999. At first the hotel was managed by French hotel chain Accor and was named Grand Hotel Mercure Tallinn. Starting from June 1st 2000 the operating contract with Accor was terminated and the hotel name became Grand Hotel Tallinn.
In the beginning of the year 2001 an exclusive and luxurious guest house Villa Mary was opened in Viimsi. In the beginning of 2004 a cozy tourist-class hotel Meriton Old Town Hotel with 41 rooms opens its doors in the Old Town of Tallinn.The Meriton Hotels chain was established to manage the hotels.
Meriton Conference & Spa Hotel was opened on 28 of April 2009 next to the Grand Hotel Tallinn. Hotel is located in the centre of Tallinn, next to Toompea hill and the Parliament. Still, as the only 4-star hotel in the chain, representing classical elegance, Meriton Grand Hotel Tallinn will remain the “flagship” of the new hotel chain.
23rd of December 2009 a new Old Town Garden Hotel was opened with the 50-rooms in the Tallinn old town at Pikk 29/ Lai 24.
January 1st two hotels - Meriton Conference & Spa hotel and Meriton Grand Hotel Tallinn- were united and new hotel was named - Meriton Grand Conference & Spa hotel.
