British Food and Drink Week in Meriton
With the initiative of the British Embassy, British Food and Drink Week is taking place in Tallinn for the first time on March 5th to 11th. To introduce the British flavours, the visitors and customers of Meriton Hotel may enjoy the British Food and Drink Week organised in collaboration with the British Embassy on March 5th to 19th. For this event, a wide selection of popular savoury and sweet English dishes are available in the Meriton Grand Conference & Spa Hotel's Café Mademoiselle & Bistro Mary. In Café Mademoiselle located in the Meriton Old Town Garden Hotel, we serve afternoon tea – tea, sandwiches and traditional British pastries.
"I am very glad that we can cooperate with our good partner, Meriton Hotels in the framework of the British Food and Drink Week. This is a great opportunity for Tallinners to get acquainted with the fantastic British recipes, eat delicious British food and drink British drinks, including the traditional British afternoon tea," said the British Ambassador in Estonia, Chris Holtby.
The British food festival opened with a gala dinner on March 5th. In the preparation of the menu, the cook of the British ambassador Mrs Evelin Karro was of assistance. "At the opening gala, there was a smoked haddock soup, roast beef with a mini Yorkshire pudding and lemon curd with meringue and cream," said Meriton Hotel's chef Ragmar Haabma. He added: "Well known English cheeses Wensleydale Blueberry, Blue Stilton, Cheddar and Stripy Chuck were featured on the cheese plate. The evening will end with Tetley tea according to the English habit."
A band named Wigla made a music at the gala dinner. A whiskey presentation from T. Tiivel – the Macallan Fine Oak 12YO and the Famous Grouse (Tridens).
